This pair of boots is the second purchase Ive ever made of Maelstrom tactical products, and it will be the last. Upon initial inspection, they seemed well-made; the eyelets are nice and secure, the sidezip zipper is good, and the suede is of good quality. Theyre relatively lightweight (nothing like my McRaes, but far better than a standard issue boot) and theyre comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. That, however, is the last good thing youll hear me say about them. Ive owned these boots for less than a year, and altogether have probably only worn them for a total of 60 to 90 days out of that year, and have found the following: *The mesh and foam combination on the sides and front of the boot *is* highly breathable, but its equally fragile. God forbid you walk through a single bush, because the mesh will snag, tear, and start falling apart, with bits of the thin, cheap foam underneath falling out around it. Well, you might ask, what about hiking through sandy terrain (these are, after all, "desert" boots)? Nope, also not a great idea because the mesh and underlying foam traps sand and dirt that youll be trailing behind you every where else you might go for the next month. *The rubber tread, although a nice tread and very effective and (possibly) long-wearing, is already severely delaminating from the foam sole of both boots. So, although the tread might be long-wearing, its not going to do you much good after its fallen off the boot. *Although the leather and zippers are good materials, the stitching that connects them together leaves a lot to be desired... I already have several rows of stitching that are starting to unravel. Overall, dont buy these. If youre only looking for a boot that will withstand 3 months of moderate usage, you can get one for a much lower price.

Well I usually try to wait a little while before I write a review but these ate great feeling boots out of the box. They fit and look great with just a minute to fix the string, now its zip on and off. These are some of the quietest boots that I have worn. Im not sure about the durability but from what I gathered these were the best choice as most expensive boots fail to last as long as desired. For the price of these maelstrom land ships I can buy 3-4 pairs for the same price and I am sure they would outlast a pair of high end boots that prob are not quite as comfortable or as silent during movement. Another great thing is these were delivered a day early and Im ready to get out to the hills and put em to the test...so just recap, early delivery, great price, comfortable, silent wear, zip on and off. Highly recommend to the point that I will be ordering a pair for my father and more for myself. Thanks for a great product!

Bought these for a weekend camping/hiking trip. PROS: Fits as expected (I wear 10-10.5, Bought 10.5 and they fit perfectly) I wore them for my trip the day after I received them. Very little break in, comfortable right out the box. Easy to don and doff. The zipper on the inside of the boot made it very easy to quickly put on and take off when entering and exiting my tent. Durable: I walked for miles on rocks and shale along steep trails and uneven terrain and never once felt anything pressing abnormally against the sole of the boot. Firm grip. Even on slippery rock surfaces, the boot held firm and secure. Looks: The boot "looks the business." Excellent value! CONS: Hard to find anything wrong with this boot. The only thing I can think of that would improve the boot is a little more bounce for impact resistance, however, a good pair of gel inserts would probably rectify this subjective opinion. Although there are no signs of premature or manufacturers defects, I am unsure about how long these boots will actually last. Time will tell. Summary, Great boot, great price, great fit, great comfort. Well worth the investment. Nice job Maelstrom!

Came as stated great. They do in fact fit very tight. I do not need wide but like the extra room. These have no room. Uncomfortably tight for supposed 2E. Order the wide, take their insert out and get a good work boot insert and use that one. Youll be much happier. Their insert is extremely thick with no give, which takes up too much room. I replaced the insert with a cheap one and after 2 weeks of breaking in, the boots stretched out and I was able the put their insert in and the boot was only a little tight. A week later and they feel fine. Hate the heals in this insert that came with the boot still so I will look for another good quality insert myself but the boot itself is working good. Just not very slip resistant. I slipped on a small rock in the path going up Camelback mountain with a lite rain earlier in the day. Plus another few times with little water.

The boots them selves are very comfortable and they feel like a good pair of tennis shoes. Exactly what I need for the granite terrain of the Arizona desert plains. The price is right as well! The only complaint I have was in the packaging. These were sent in just the boot box that you would buy in a store, flimsy card-board type box. So they arrived half in, half out of the package. Needless to say they arrived dirty with some floor crud stuck on them. Overall a quality buy, but guys, put them in an extra box please.
