The fit was too small by a big margin. Most of that was my fault. I usually wear 7.5 to 8.0 in a Mens Regular. I presumed that--since the size 8 wasnt available--the half-size down would be alright. I was wrong. Evidently the whole sizing system runs a bit small for this manufacturer. My feet felt jammed up and crowded, even without an insole; and--believe me--you wont want to wear these without an insole. Theres not enough cushion in the construction of the boot, nor in the stiff insole that comes with it to absorb the shock of walking. Even after replacing the insole with a good brand name gel pad, this was still the most uncomfortable boot Ive ever purchased. Should I also mention that by using them for only one week, I now have a low-grade case of "heel splints" that Im trying to recover from? No, thats just injury to insult... --- TJW Maelstrom Mens TAC FORCE 8 Inch Military Tactical Duty Work Boot with Zipper, Black, 8 M US

I really like these boots and honestly want to put a higher review, but theres two reasons I put one start. 1. Most people tend to look at the one star reviews first 2. Im not super pleased with what I found after they arrived. Positive Note: The boots are great, the fit well and are super comfortable, although I would recommend wearing boot socks, or socks that go past the top of the boot as the back on one irritated the back of my leg, but with the proper socks, no irritation. Problem: These boots are supposed to be oil and slip resistant, and Im sure they are. However, when my boots arrived, I noticed a strange but familiar smell, and noticed something looked a little off on the soles of the boots, they were a bit shiny. Long story short, it seems like they put ArmorAll on the bottom of the boots for whatever reason. The problem with that is that it makes the boots very, very slick and slippery, especially when wet. I work in an automotive dealership as a tech and need slip resistant boots, so the pair I got being very slick is a problem and a safety hazard, and theres nothing I can really do about it except hope that the ArmorAll wears off soon.

I bought these to wear mainly as a hiking and outdoor boot. The good: They are super light, very comfortable even with the factory insole, they are a pretty good fit, and they perform their expected duties with flying colors. No foot fatigue, no hotspots, no comfort issues whatsoever. Ive had them almost a month, and have put roughly ten miles a week over uneven rocky terrain, gravel, through mud and shallow creeks, with a bit of manicured trail hiking - nothing hardcore, but not simple evening strolls. So far, so good. The not-so-good: The laces they come with are not trail-worthy. Might as well have a good pair ready for these. And some of the stitching is a little half-assed. Not atrocious, but not exactly quality workmanship. But for seventy bucks delivered, these things can be let go. The bad: Ive had to use shoe adhesive on the sole three times in as many weeks. That doesnt bode too well. Hopefully, what I havent glued already stays glued. Id feel odd if most of the "sturdy cement construction" came from a bottle I bought. To sum it all up, the price is right and theyre featherlight and comfy. Just gonna have to wait out the durability issue. Ill update in six months or if anything major happens. All in all, they seem to be a worthwhile purchase. Edit 6.2.15 Well, Ive had to use adhesive quite a few more times on the soles, so Ive stopped going hiking in them. I dont really wanna end up three or four miles out and have the sole completely seperate. But, there is a vacant spot for yard work and general beat-em-up use that they will fill nicely. Im keeping the four stars for comfort, and in Maelstroms defense, the abuse I put these through is usually reserved for Salomons, Danners, or Lowas - boots that cost well upwards of two bills, so I cant really fault the manufacturer. Anyway, they shall live on, albeit in a different capacity than I purchased them for.

I just received these and have been wearing them for a few days. Solid boots for the money. As noted by others they are surprisingly lightweight. They are a bit tighter than I expected but they may stretch a bit with wear. I recommend replacing the shoelaces with 72inch, the laces they come with are about 3 inches too short. Ill update after Ive had them a while. After a few weeks I really like them, theyre snug but no longer uncomfortably so. I bought these because about 6 months ago I Sprained my ankle and its been bothering me off and on so I needed some serious ankle support. Since I wear a 15 wide I just havent had any luck finding shoes I could wear to work that didnt look like biker boots. With my pants covering the tops these look like fairly normal work shoes. I personally recommend them, theyre a good deal for the money, and if they only last 9 moths to a year youre still way ahead as far as cost for comparable boots.

I’m a 10 1/2 Wide so I ordered an 11 Medium. This method works for me since one foot seems slightly larger than the other. This is a good $55.00 boot. The zippers work great, they allow me to get the shoe strings adjusted for a great fit and then I use the zipper to take them off and put them on. I did find a minor flaw on one of the boot heels, but it’s very minor. I wear these boots 3-4 times a week, two days at work and then to work around the yard. They seem very durable, extremely lightweight and were easy to shine up with black Kiwi wax. Maintain this boot properly and it should last a long time. With that said, this is not a $135.00 pair of Wolverines. They probably won’t last like a $135.00 pair of Wolverines. If that’s what you want/expect, go buy a $135.00 pair of Wolverines. For me, I expect they will last 2+ years minimum. Because I won’t use them everyday and I will keep them clean and shined. For the Soldier that’s drilling in rough terrain, these most likely will fall short. I expect these will last as long or longer than the last pair of boots I bought at Walmart.
