For several decades I wore the darker-skinned brother to these shoes. Then one day, much to my surprise, the hot chick in the office asked me why I was wearing a brown belt with black shoes. Unfortunately that was at 4:45 in the afternoon so I could only google “brown belt, black shoes” for 15 minutes before it was time to leave work for my beard-trimming appointment. I spent the next four days at work combing through Google (and the beard-lice I developed from the “discount” beard-trimming). I was shocked to learn that you are “supposed” to match the color of your belt with your shoes. Well I felt a bit rebellious, and I really like my belt, so I decided instead to match the color of my shoes with my belt. That’s when I ordered these. When they arrived my first thought was to burn them… I suspected witchcraft or dark sorcery. How was it possible that these could be identical to my black Dr. Martens, except brown?! But eventually I worked up the courage to try them on, and I have been in heaven ever since. These things are fantastic brown clones of the black ones. They are comfortable. They are acid resistant (trust me I tested it). And they make you about an inch taller (doesn’t work in countries with the metric system). My only caveat, is they do need to be manually tied – you know, the old fashion way – so make sure you know someone with these skills. Unfortunately Dr. Marten doesn’t make a clip-on derivative. Ohh, and I ended-up marrying that “hot chick in the office”. I owe it all to these great shoes. And google.

Ive owned and worn Docs for 10 years, but that is apparently coming to an end as the quality is now suspect. I just looked at my shoes and noticed that the soles on both shoes have split in half by the arch on both shoes. I purchased them earlier this year. I looked at other reviews and, sure enough, a lot of people are having the exact same problem. DO NOT BUY. Period. Docs have historically been great and I typically wear them for 2-3 years, but now that the quality has dropped precipitously I will not be buying Docs going forward unless they honor my request to have mine replaced or repaired free of charge.

My first pair was replaced by Dr. Martens because the sole separated. My next pair had the sole separate on BOTH shoes. I had to have them repaired. I have worn Dr. Martens most of my life and have never seen this crummy quality. I hope my next pair is not like this. Bummed...

After 9 months the sole completely separated from the shoe. Comfortable and fit as expected, but poor construction. I had another pair of Doc Martens that I loved - I wore them to death - wore them for 8+ years for 40+ hours a week with no complaints. Was hoping for the same performance on this shoe and was sorely disappointed. Another side note, was that these shoes had an annoying squeak for 3-4 weeks after the initial purchase. I thought it would go away after a few days, and I tried baby powder, baking soda, WD-40, and nothing made it go away but (far too much in my opinion) time.

when I bought them I knew they were knock offs but I cant find any low top boots anywhere so I decided to get them. i read that they were the Vietnamese made instead of USA and i was okay with that. when i got them, they are made in China and have almost no Dr.marten features such as slip resistance, air sole, even the eyeholes are not symmetrical. they are embarrassing to wear. these are best if you want to prank someone or really do justice on a mortal enemy.
