I purchased these shoes back in December and love them; however, 6 months down the road, the sole of the shoe is coming off right at the arch. Im surprised as Dr.Martins have a strong reputation of quality workmanship. I understand it is now past the point to return them but it doesnt seem right that this caliber of shoe can fall apart so easily. I wear them for work as I am on my feet all day and they have been perfect up until now.

I have weirdly wide feet with very high arches, if I was flat-footed Id probably be at least a size or a size-and-a-half larger, so its always awkward finding shoes that fit. My list over the years was generally Ecco and Keen, and both of those were too expensive and too shoddily made to justify continuing to get them. On a whim I bought a pair of these and have never looked back. I thought all the punk rock kids looked cool wearing these in the 80s and they seemed to endure that lifestyle, so I figured what could go wrong with a much more sedate existence? Im on my second pair right now and when they wear out, Ill get my third. They fit perfectly, have room to spare on the sides but dont feel like clown shoes, and my feet basically never get sore even after walking 20,000 steps or more. The soles seem to last about 2-3 years depending on how much you abuse them, but once you wear through and start to develop cracks or holes it sucks up all the moisture out of the ground and soaks your feet. Im sure for a price you can get them resoled but it just seems like too much of a hassle for me. This most recent pair seems to squeak a lot even after being more or less broken in, so I dont know what thats about since I havent had them do that in the past. Im hoping that eventually itll stop, but in the mean time they announce my presence better than a box of tic tacs in the pocket, so people know to run away or act busy when Im approaching.

I was hoping that Doc Martens kept up with their quality, but despite reading the contrary online, I decided to buy these. The photos make them look awesome (like my old pair - that lasted me 6+ years of year-round wear). These ones are noticeably cheaper made. The area around the stitching feels almost like a cheap plastic rather than a rubber compound like my old ones, and the leather appears to be of cheaper quality, and the padding around the opening is cheap and it has a stitch at the top so it rubs on your heels and feet. Poor job, Docs. I wont be buying another pair after these. **Edit: (Sept. 8, 2015) Ive had these now for a year and a half. I dislike them as much now as when I first got them. Luckily, Im a cheap S.O.B. that is also very stubborn as I bought them, so I am wearing them. I guess Im lucky theyve lasted a year and a half because the soles are wearing out and the inside is starting to tear. Ive almost slipped and fell twice now on a flat tiled floor because the tread is both not deep and is terrible for grip on any surface other than asphalt. Looking forward to when I can toss these. Definitely wont be buying another pair of Docs anytime soon!

I had a Chinese Dr. Martens pair that recently fell apart on me after about 6 years of abuse, it was an inferior product but hard to beat for the $30 price my wife picked them up for... The previous Dr. Martens I had were originals from England and while they were better made they didnt significantly outlast the Chinese version that was about a fifth of the price. Now on to these shoes, theyre actually made in Vietnam. Very solid leather and fit. I wear 10.5 and it wasnt available as an option but the 11 fit me perfect, so keep that in mind. Honestly, the only way I could tell this isnt the England made shoe is that the sole feels a tad bit uneven when I walk on them. The authentic "made in England" Dr. Martens are over double the price of these. Theyre also a bit loud (make squeaky noises) but Im sure the leather will sit in eventually and that should improve. Im very happy with the purchase thusfar, now its time to see how many years theyll last.

Really disappointed in these. In a year of having these, the sole is already coming off. What happened to the quality of Docs? I used to have an old pair of Docs that lasted for 10+ years and they were still going strong until my car got stolen and unfortunately the shoes were in them. I had these for one year and now the sole is completely coming off. The other shoe is still okay but after having them for just a month, it makes a "clicking" noise while walking. I finally found out that there is a part of the other shoes sole that isnt glued down properly, so when I walk, it makes that clicking noise. I think this will be the last Docs I buy. Trying out Solovair for my next purchase, supposedly they are made in the original warehouse of Docs. I hope they are good. Heres my old review of them when I was still hopeful and happy with Docs: ---------------------------------------------------- I love Dr. Martens shoes. These are super shiny shoes though, but I have not only grown to get used to it, but I now like it. The other day I was walking by some women at my work, and I heard one of them say, "that guy has some wonderfully shiny shoes, I wish I could date him." Okay maybe thats not really what happened, but the shoes are indeed great. Ive now had them for like 6 months or so, and they finally have that perfect worn-in feel. YEAHHHH
